Because old paws deserve an easier climb - Introducing the step hammock.

Rats love being up high, it's their favourite place! Being able to see the world, they feel safe and secure in a high position in their cage. Which is why they love hammocks. It is also a sad fact that their lifespan is just not long enough. Our elderly rats need a little more care and attention to detail with their environment to ensure their quality of life and mental health are preserved for as long as possible. We often see deteriorations in agility and activity levels as our rats age, but their want for their secure high spaces does not diminish.

This is where the step hammocks really excel. They allow a slower, elderly rat the possibility to get up in their favourite hammock space safely. They are available in 3 different sizes (see table below) and come with 4x 3d printed rods to secure the steps to the cage.

I also always recommend fall breakers (especially for elderly rats) so if they do fall, something is there to break their fall. This can be other hammocks, scarf hangers, ropes, boxes, anything to break up the space between the high living spaces and the floor.

Instructions

The rods come in 2 peices, the long rod and the nut. Place the nut on the outside of the cage and the rod on the inside and screw them together, it's that simple! The rods have grip barbs that help hold onto the fabric of the hammock to make a secure platform. You can place the steps in any formation you like!
